Booking Conditions

Vacancies are offered subject to being available at the time of receipt of a completed booking form and a deposit of 25% of the total cost. Provisional bookings can be held for one week while a deposit and completed booking form are sent as confirmation. A confirmed booking will be acknowledged with a letter. We regret that at the moment bookings must be made by post, with payment by cheque. We do not accept credit cards.

The cottage is insured to sleep a maximum of six people sleeping in the beds provided, and one baby sleeping in the cot. Please do not exceed this number.

Once a booking is confirmed, it is legally binding. Consequently, we advise our guests to take out holiday cancellation insurance in case they have to cancel due to unforseen circumstances. DEPOSITS CANNOT BE REFUNDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. In event of a cancellation, the balance payment will not be requested if we manage to re-let the cottage for the same price; only the amount of money we have lost through cancellation will be requested. CANCELLATION INSURANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Guests are requested not to smoke in the cottage, and to leave the cottage and its contents clean and tidy. On a changeover day we have a very limited time in which to make the beds and clean up ready for the next guests. We reserve the right to charge guests for any damage caused by them, and any unreasonable cleaning costs. Guests are requested to arrive at the cottage after 2pm, and to vacate it by 10am.

We do not charge for dogs, but we do ask guests to clean away the hairs and mud shed by their dogs in the cottage. Only well-behaved dogs are welcome, and they must be under control and with an owner at all times. Please do not let dogs get on to the sofas and beds or rub against the furniture and walls. Cat and/or sheep-chasers are not welcome. We try to keep the children's play area a dog-free zone. Please do not use it as a convenient place for dogs to run and do their business.

Horses can usually be accommodated from May to October. Charges depend on the facilities required. Please ask for further details.

Both horses and dogs must be wormed before they arrive, and must be in good health.

We welcome children, and encourage them (with their parents) to join in with life on the farm if possible. Parents are reminded that farms are potentially dangerous places, and their children should be supervised at all times. We are neither qualified nor insured to look after children who want to help on the farm, so please don't encourage children to go out alone and "help" the farmer!

Please make sure that children wash their hands after playing outside.

Do ask us if you have any questions before you arrive or during your stay. We hope that you have a wonderful holiday at West Ilkerton.
